McNaughton Follow Up

It’s been a two weeks since the 150. Today was my first real run since this race. I got in 8 miles and it took a touch over an hour. I feel like it was a hard 20, but that’s fine. My recovery skills are gonna take a bit to come back slowly but surely. I’m just happy to be able to move as well as I am. I swam yesterday and will be swimming again tomorrow. Thursday I’ll get another run in, Fri another swim and next week I’ll try to get one or two double work out days in.

Last week I had a sports massage on my legs. That was super duper uncomfortable to say the least. The massage therapist took her elbows and dug into all the muscle adhesion in my legs. It’s the best thing to do and it helps loosen the muscles and speed recovery, but damn it sucks to have done. I go back tomorrow for another round. I’ve been diligently using the Stick every day for the last week, that’s helping a lot as well.

I haven’t listed what I ate during the run, and some people have expressed interest. I don’t have a break down of what I ate when, at least not enough to type out. I’m just going to list over the course of the entire run what I ate – some is going to be approximated. If I know the caloric content I’ll list that as well

3120 calories of GU; 800 cal of Roctane, 1600 cal of regular GU and 720 cal of Chomps.
13 cups/1950 calories Horizon Chocolate Milk – with 1 scoop of Waxy Maize added to each cup of milk, that’s a total of an additional 1820 calories and 520 grams of carbs.
1 box of Back to Nature Crispy Wheat crackers – 1040 calories
1 box of Wheat Thins Fiber Selects – 960 calories
2 chocolate chip cookies
2 scrambled eggs with country style potatoes
1 cheeseburger with ketchup
2 slices cheese pizza
1 bowl spaghetti with meatballs
3 cups trail mix
3 dixie cups of flat coke
600 fl oz of water (300 of that mixed with Cytomax)
Cytomax – 1350 calories

That’s 10240 calories in what I know the value of. Definitely with the stuff on the bottom of the list that number will skyrocket as cheese burgers and pizza are very caloricly dense.

During the race I didn’t loose any weight, which is what I wanted. I weighed myself upon getting home and each day after I dropped about 1 pound a day. It finally stopped after loosing 6 pounds. My weight has now leveled out and is staying steady.
